Scottsdale permit search
Scottsdale SPUR is the city’s planning and permitting portal, and its public Search finds project records by address, permit number or keyword. Projects initiated after Jan. 6, 2026 are managed in SPUR; projects initiated before that date generally stay in the legacy eServices system. The City of Scottsdale says: “Projects that require construction, structural improvements, demolition, or adding or relocating mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems require a permit.” Search Scottsdale SPUR records

How to search a permit by address in Scottsdale
SPUR’s public Search screen filters records by Permit, Plan, Inspection, Code Case, Request and Project, with Exact Phrase and Advanced options. The SPUR manual describes the tool this way.

For a project initiated before Jan. 6, 2026, use the legacy Building Permit Search in eServices. It looks up permits by permit number, street number, street name, subdivision or lot number, and it shows permit documents such as the building permit and certificate of occupancy.
The city’s Planning and Permitting Portal page also lists Building Permit Reports for permits issued since 2022.
Scottsdale permit status
With a SPUR account, the dashboard’s My Work tab lists your permits and their status, and a record’s Workflow tab shows where an application sits in the process. Plans submitted in the legacy system have their own Plan Review Search.
You can manage every aspect of your project (apply, pay fees, check status, upload documents, schedule inspections) in the SPUR portal.

Scottsdale permit application
A Scottsdale permit request is a completed application submitted in SPUR. Accounts from the legacy eServices system were not carried over, so create a new SPUR account with Register before you apply.
To apply for any of these permits click “Apply” in the SPUR portal and enter the permit type or keywords in the search field.

Can a homeowner pull their own permit in Scottsdale?
Scottsdale’s wall and fence guidelines say an owner-occupied single-family property owner can do the work themselves or act as their own general contractor and hire subcontractors. An owner who does so signs the Owner-Builder Declaration form required by the city’s Tax Audit Division.
To properly advise you of tax reporting responsibilities, the owner, or authorized agent of the owner, is to complete and submit the attached Owner-Builder Form.

The form is completed when applying for a permit. When the improvement is built for the owner’s use, the owner also submits a C-2 Form five days before final inspection.

How much is a permit and how long does it take in Scottsdale?
City permit fees, FY26-27 schedule effective July 1, 2026
These lines come from the city’s permit fee schedule, Exhibit A to Resolution No. 13661, effective July 1, 2026. A single-trade job such as a water heater replacement can take a Minimum Permit, and fences and retaining walls are charged per linear foot. Review fees are paid after administrative review, and an application is not processed until payment is received. The schedule notes it is not all-inclusive and other fees may apply. These are city permit fees, not the price of the job.

Before you apply in Scottsdale: checklist
Required documents depend on the project’s scope. Construction documents must show the location, nature and extent of the work and how it conforms to the adopted construction codes.
Before uploading to SPUR, remove files attached inside PDFs and any file security, and reduce file size without dropping clarity below 300 DPI.
For a wall or fence, the guidelines ask for 3 site plans, and a wall on a shared property line needs the written authorization of that property owner. A shed needs a plot plan with setback dimensions.
Subdivision covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC&Rs) may govern some of these items even though they are not regulated by the city. Check with your homeowners association before proceeding.
