What should you ask a Texas irrigator before work starts?
Ask which TCEQ license each person on your job holds, then look each one up in TCEQ's licensing and registration records. These questions are practical suggestions, not TCEQ rules.
- Ask whether the person holds a landscape irrigator or an irrigation technician license, and get the number in writing.
- If a technician will connect the system to your water supply, ask which landscape irrigator supervises that work.
- Search each number in TCEQ's licensing and registration records, and read the name and the license type on the result.
- Ask your city or water supplier whether it runs a landscape irrigation program, and whether your job needs a permit or an inspection.
- Keep a note of each number you searched, with your contract.
