Contractor deposit limits, license lookups and permit sources by state

This table covers the 50 states and the District of Columbia. For each one it gives the deposit-limit statute text on file, the state agency page on file that leads to a public license lookup, and the local permit sources on file. Each cell links its source and gives the date it was read; a blank cell means no source is on file for it.

Every page is plain HTML. Steps for every assistant: add to your assistant.

Deposit limits: a state with statute text on file shows the citation and the statute's own words, including the conditions the statute attaches. Not found means not found in the sources checked; it is not an official statement that the state has no cap.

License lookups: each link is the state agency page on file that leads to its public lookup. A lookup is an optional public-record step, and this table gives no view on any contractor.

Permit sources: permits are issued by cities, counties and towns, so each link is one local building or permit source on file for that state, not a statewide rule.
