The Essential Home and Accessibility Repair Program (EHARP) provides funds to remove essential health and safety hazards. It also address physical accessibility barriers for low-income Virginias.

EHARP is NOT AVAILABLE in the following communities: Cities: Alexandria, Bristol, Charlottesville, Chesapeake, Colonial Heights, Danville, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Hampton, Harrisonburg, Hopewell, Lynchburg, Manassas, Manassas Park, Newport News, Norfolk, Petersburg, Portsmouth, Richmond, Roanoke, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Winchester Counties: Arlington, Chesterfield, Fairfax, Henrico, Loudoun, Prince William. These communities are federally designated Entitlement Jurisdictions. DHCD recommends persons in these communities reach out to their local city or county government to inquire about their entitlement grant programs.

The program provides funding to local administrators to undertake physical repairs that improve housing conditions.
