This policy describes information used to operate the InstaBids marketplace.

Information you provide

We process project descriptions, location details such as ZIP codes, photos, messages, bids, and information you provide during intake. If you use voice or camera features, audio, transcripts, or images are processed to help describe your project. Contractor accounts may include contact details, business profiles, qualifications, and portfolios. We also keep request status, bid selections, and connection-fee records.

Share only information needed for your project. Avoid including sensitive personal documents or information about other people without their permission.

How information is used

We use information to create and restore requests, prepare bid cards, match projects with contractors, deliver bids and messages, manage connections, and protect the marketplace from abuse. AI services process relevant text and media to assist intake, classification, matching, and contact-detail redaction. Redaction in a shared message does not mean the original has been deleted from our records.

Cookies maintain intake sessions and signed-in access. An anonymous intake session means you can begin without an account; it does not mean the information you submit cannot identify you. The anonymous intake cookie lasts about ninety days on the device that started the request; after it expires or is cleared, the request is still stored but that browser can no longer reach it. Technical and error records help operate and troubleshoot the service.

If you bid as a contractor, your bid amount may be averaged with other contractors' bids to show a rounded local price range. It is shown only when at least 12 bids from 5 or more different contractors on at least 4 jobs are behind it. A range never shows your name or links any figure to you.

What is shared

Sending a request makes its project details available to matched contractors; it does not automatically make the request publicly browseable. Public browsing is a separate homeowner opt-in. Bids are shown using contractor aliases. Contractor identity and both parties' contact details are protected from the other party until the connection is confirmed: the homeowner picks a bid and the winning contractor confirms the connection, which includes paying the connection fee when one applies. The selected parties can then connect. Any connection fee is shown in the app before the contractor confirms the connection.

Processors

We use these service providers to run InstaBids. They process information for us under contracts and may not use it for their own marketing.

  • Vercel - website hosting and site usage analytics
  • Supabase - database, file storage and sign-in
  • OpenRouter - sends AI requests to the AI model providers we use
  • OpenAI - AI help with describing jobs, matching and removing contact details
  • Resend - email delivery

Information may also be used or disclosed as needed to address fraud, security incidents, disputes, or legal obligations. Contact protection between marketplace participants does not prevent processing by InstaBids and its service providers.

AI assistants you connect

You can connect an AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, to your InstaBids account. You choose what it may do on the consent screen before anything is shared:

  • "See your jobs and read your bids" lets the assistant read your job requests and the anonymized bids on them.
  • "Start and update job requests for you" lets the assistant create or change job requests in your account. This is off unless you turn it on.

An assistant acts only within the permissions you approve and only for your own account. It never sees a contractor's name, contact details or licence number before the connection is confirmed, the same as you. When an assistant reads your information, the assistant's provider also processes it under that provider's own privacy policy. Please review it.

We keep a record of which assistant you connected, the permissions you granted, and when it was used, for security and to show you your connections.

You can disconnect an assistant at any time on the "Connected assistants" page (instabids.ai/agent/connected). Disconnecting stops its access to InstaBids immediately. It does not delete copies the assistant or its provider already saved; ask that provider to delete those.
