How the marketplace works

InstaBids helps homeowners describe projects, request anonymized bids from contractors who take part, and choose a contractor. A request may not get any bids. Alex, our AI assistant, helps organize the project into a bid card. Review the details before sending your request. AI can make mistakes; project prices come from contractors, not AI estimates.

Free for homeowners; a fee for the winning contractor

Homeowners pay InstaBids nothing. Only the winning contractor pays a connection fee. Any connection fee is shown in the app before the contractor confirms the connection. The connection fee is for the introduction; it is not payment for the project work.

Contractor identity and both parties' contact details are protected from the other party until the connection is confirmed: the homeowner picks a bid and the winning contractor confirms the connection, which includes paying the connection fee when one applies. Choosing a bid alone does not unlock those details. Keep communication in InstaBids before that point and do not try to share contact details or arrange a connection outside InstaBids. Content may be redacted or withheld to enforce this rule.

Local price ranges

We may show a price range for a type of job in an area, on our public pages and to homeowners. It is built from contractor bids and is shown only when at least 12 bids from 5 or more different contractors on at least 4 separate jobs are behind it. Each end of the range is a rounded average of several bids from the middle of the group, and a range never names a contractor or links a figure to one.

Your project and your agreement

InstaBids provides the marketplace, not the construction or home services. Homeowners and contractors are responsible for agreeing on scope, price, schedule, payment for work, and any changes. A bid or introduction is not a guarantee of quality, availability, or project completion.

Licences and qualifications

InstaBids does not check, require or verify contractor licences, insurance, permits or qualifications, and does not decide whether a job needs a licence. Many jobs, such as lawn care, pool cleaning or general handyman tasks, may not need one; some work, such as roofing, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning or structural work, needs a Florida, county or city licence by law. Homeowners are responsible for deciding what their job needs and for checking any contractor before hiring. Contractors are responsible for holding every licence, registration, insurance policy and permit their work requires, for bidding only on work they are allowed to do, and for meeting any legal duty to show their licence number to customers. InstaBids is not responsible for the licences, insurance or qualifications of any contractor.

Optional licence badge: a contractor may choose to give us a Florida licence number. If it matched a public DBPR record, we show a badge with the date of that match. The badge means only that the number matched a public record at that time. It is not a check of the contractor's identity, insurance, work quality or eligibility for your job, it is not required to use InstaBids, and you should still check the licence yourself at myfloridalicense.com.
