Are CalHFA ADU grants open?

CalHFA’s latest California ADU grant round is fully allocated. Its program page still displays the December 28, 2023 update when read 2026-11-04. Who is eligible for CalHFA ADU grants?

“Homeowners with incomes less than CalHFA income limits.”

CalHFA’s California eligibility infographic points homeowners to the agency’s income limits. The latest round remains fully allocated; meeting the described conditions does not open that round.

What costs do CalHFA ADU grants cover?

“CalHFA provides up to $40,000 for pre-development costs and non-reoccurring closing costs to build the ADU.”

The California agency lists site preparation, architectural designs, permits, soil tests, impact fees, property surveys, and energy reports as pre-development work. Keep that category separate in a project scope from construction of the dwelling itself. The cap describes the agency program; the fully allocated status still governs the latest round.

Where do homeowners apply for New York Plus One ADU?

New York HCR directs homeowners to the local program administrator for their municipality. Its directory links to RUPCO for participating communities; the provider’s own page is the source for its current application windows. HCR also describes a regulatory period of at least ten (10) years. A directory entry alone does not establish an open application window for every listed town.

Don't See Your Town Listed?

New York HCR provides a program-expansion interest form for a municipality absent from its Plus One ADU list. The form concerns expansion to another municipality, rather than an individual grant reservation. Homeowner applications go through the listed local program administrators. RUPCO separately lists Columbia, Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan counties with open windows; that is the provider’s own geographic list.
