The utility’s own words distinguish buying a qualifying refrigerator from recycling an old working appliance. Follow the application route for the particular program and keep its account, model and collection requirements together.
Weatherization is a separate assessment process through a local provider. DOE lists refrigerator and freezer replacement among its weatherization measures, while Nevada’s page names refrigerator upgrades or repairs. A household application begins the assessment process rather than establishing which equipment will be replaced.
For a purchase rebate, the itemized invoice links the model and payment record to the appliance. For a recycling incentive, the existing refrigerator’s capacity and operating condition matter at collection. These records serve different purposes in the agency’s process.
